We recently had a client who wanted to transfer their Wix site to WordPress. They had a good amount of content, but it wasn’t all on the same page. They were having trouble figuring out how to transfer their Wix site to WordPress, so we decided to write this guide for them and anyone else who needs help with the process.
Before you start:
If your site is built on Wix, there are a few things you should know before getting started.
1) In order to transfer your website from Wix to WordPress, you’ll need an FTP account. If you don’t have one yet, get one now! It’s easy and free — just sign up for an account at FileZilla or Cyberduck (both of which are free). You’ll also need a copy of the FileZilla or Cyberduck software on your computer if you don’t already have it installed (they’re both easy to download).
2) The most important thing is that your Wix website must be hosted by Bluehost in order for us to transfer it successfully. If your site is hosted anywhere else, we cannot move it for you; sorry about that!
